- Skip abrasive cleaners. Scouring agents scratch glass and hardware alike. Over time, those tiny scratches add up and leave the glass looking hazy.
- Avoid harsh chemicals. Stay away from anything with ammonia, bleach, oxides, or acids. These can etch and pit the glass surface, leaving it permanently dull. Good rule of thumb: if you need gloves to handle it, it's too harsh for your shower.
- Steer clear of "leave-on" or self-cleaning products. If they're not rinsed off thoroughly, they leave behind residue that actually attracts more buildup.
- Never use cleaners on hardware. The chemicals can pit and etch anodized or painted finishes, and they can damage the gaskets and seals between the hardware and the glass. Stick to that mild soap-and-water method.
